Climate Modeling: Physical Foundations & AI

MET 6155: Advanced Topics in Climatology

Spring 2027 · Graduate course

Mondays & Wednesdays, 9:35–10:50 a.m. · EOAS 1044

This graduate course introduces how computer models help us understand and predict Earth's climate. Students explore models built from physical laws alongside AI methods that learn from data, starting with simple examples and moving to more complex models. Through hands-on coding exercises and a final research project, students learn how these approaches work, what they can predict, and where their limits lie.

Some programming experience is expected; no prior machine learning experience is required. Enrollment is by instructor permission.
